제목 Enhanced Oil Recovery Using Microgel Particles with Immobilized Microbes
초록 Microbially enhanced oil recovery utilizes microorganisms to extract residual oil in reservoirs. Here, we introduce fabrication of microgel particles with immobilized Bacillus subtilis for enhanced oil recovery. To safely deliver B. subtilis into a permeable porous medium, these bacteria were physically immobilized in a hydrogel mesh of microgel particles and release biosurfactant in target area. For evaluation to enhanced oil recovery, the microgel particles were injected into a column packed with silica beads filled with n-decane, we found that these particles significantly increased oil recovery in a concentration-dependent manner. This result shows that microgel particles encapsulating biosurfactant producing microorganisms have promise for oil recovery from porous media.
