The effect of sinter size after reduction degradation on the reducibility was estimated with the newly designed experimental method simulating the actual blast furnace condition with various temperatures, reduction times and initial sinter sizes. The degree of reduction of sinter particles is dependent on low temperature degradation and increases in surface area as a result of the degradation. The RI of CaCl2-added-sinter was also estimated to verify the effect of additives for retarding reduction degradation on the reducibility. The RI decreases with CaCl2 as much as decreasing reduction degradation. Thus, in order to understand the reducibility of sinter, not only should the basic composition including fluxed oxides be considered, but also the sinter size after reduction degradation. |
