Obtaining functionalized poly(α-olefin)s with polar groups by direct synthesis is one of the most interesting fields never successfully reached by industrial chemical processes. Because poly(α-olefin)s suffer surface properties deficiency. Phenoxy-imine nickel(II) complexes were activated by ethylaluminum sesquichloride(EAS) to give catalytic systems able to oligomerize ethylene, thus producing butenes as major products. Phenoxy-imine Nickel(II) complexes catalysts activated by various cocatalysts especially methylaluminoxane have been studied in the homopolymerization of methyl methacrylate(MMA). The influence of polymerization parameters on the catalytic activity and the characteristics of the resulting polymers has been investigated, with different cocatalyst at various temperature. Among them MAO gave high molecular weight PMMA. The oligomers and polymers has been characterized by GC, NMR and GPC. Copolymerization studies of ethylene with MMA using these catalysts are going on. |
