Catalysts for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) were compared between directly alloyed Pt-Pd species and sequentially alloyed Pt-Pd species, supported on conductive carbon black. Catalysts for DMFC were synthesized by polyol method. Crystallinity, structure and size of catalysts were investigated by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD), respectively. The results showed that sequentially alloyed catalysts support to increase electrochemical active surface area (ESA). Electrochemical properties were compared by cyclic voltammograms (CVs). The fundamental electrochemical test results indicated that the electrocatalytic activity of sequentially alloyed Pt-Pd/C catalysts are better than that of directly alloyed Pt-Pd/C catalysts. |
