A wireless diagnostic hydrogel sensor that canselectively detect cancer cells based on pH-controlled boronate ester bondnanoparticles has been invented. Nanoparticles-incorporated hydrogels exhibitedhigh electronic signals during mechanical deformation, such as tensile strainand pressure, which can apply for cancer detection. In normal conditions, strain and gauge factors were lower than that of cancer cells due to theextracellular pH different. The hydrogel was confirmed to exhibit excellentbiocompatibility in in vitro and in vivo experiments, showing no inflammationduring implantation in tumor mice. In conclusion, hydrogels present a fast andeasy procedure for cancer cell diagnosis that would be beneficial in thefuture.
