Various clean and green energy systems have been extensively developed and explored to help tackle the issue of energy shortage. Renewable sources of energy included hydroelectricity, wind, solar etc. In this research, by exploiting coupled piezoelectric characteristics, we investigated the possibility to use carbon nanotube yarn as power generator by external mechanical forces. To implement the function, we electrochemically deposited ZnO nanowiere on the surface of carbon nanotube yarn. 1D ZnO nanostructures have been extensively investigated as a step toward realizing such self-powered energy-harvesting nanosystems and piezoelectric sensor devices. Most previous nanogenerators have been fabricated with nonflexible substrates, such as GaN or sapphire, for the growth of ZnO nanowires. Therefore, we present an approach for fabricating flexible carbon nanotube yarn into nanogenerators that can be used for smart shirts, flexible electronics, and medical applications. |
