Graphene has been generated from various kinds of methods which consist of mechanical exfoliation, chemical exfoliation, chemical vapor deposition, and so forth. In this study, we tried to fabricate graphene films in a novel way which is more simple and economical than existing ones. We pyrolyzed several different kinds of polymer thin films. We deposited a metal layer on the polymer thin films so that the polymer thin films are not to be removed from the substrate during pyrolysis under high temperature circumstances. Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy informed that most of polymer thin films turned into amorphous carbon thin films under a high temperature condition (1000oC). However, graphene-like films were also obtained by controlling the dehydrogenation process and the precursor polymers. |
