Morphological Effect of Platinum Nanofibers on the Performance of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells |

We reported the effect of electro-spinning time of platinum (Pt) nanofibers on the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Platinum nanofibers were fabricated by electro-spinning method and were used as a counter electrode and catalytic layer for DSSCs. Pt metal nanofibers mat exhibits a high electrical conductivity and transparency with a porous morphology. Also, it has excellent catalytic effect. The transmittance and sheet resistance of Pt nanofibers mat were investigated as a function of an electro-spinning time. Then, DSSCs were fabricated using a Pt nanofibers mat as a catalytic counter electrode. We found that they worked successfully and their fill factors were reported to be about 70% compared with that of a conventional DSSC. The diameter and surface coverage of Pt nanofibers were controlled by different electro-spinning time. Their photovoltaic properties in DSSCs were observed the power conversion efficiency of 5.7% at E-spinning time of 15 minutes. |
