Pyrolysis, one of the ways to convert waste resources into energy, is a process capable of producing gas, liquid, and solid fuels by reducing and decomposing polymer materials such as paper cups at high temperatures, and is widely applied to various wastes. However, since the quality of pyrolysis-generated oil is not suitable for use as a fuel or a chemical fuel, research to generate a high-quality fuel by introducing an additional catalytic process is being actively conducted. Therefore, in this study, catalytic pyrolysis was applied to recover high quality oil from waste paper cups. To confirm the characteristics of the paper cup catalyst pyrolysis reaction, thermogravimetric analysis and pyrolyzer-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry were performed on two types of paper cups with different compositions, and aromatic compounds according to the type and amount of catalyst and reaction temperature. The production efficiency was compared and evaluated. |
