A hydrogel sheet with high strength was prepared using alginate, and applied to seal the ruptured superficial tendon, thereby minimizing the spreading due to external force. To analyze the physical properties of alginate hydrogel sheet, the strength was measured, as well as toxicity and cell compatibility were evaluated with a biomaterial. Animal experiments were carried out on the rat supraspinatus tendon to confirm the physical improvement of applied symptom. Animal experiments were completed at 6 and 12 weeks, and histological and biomechanical analyzes were performed on the surgical site. As a result, it was found that the tissue treated with the alginate hydrogel sheet was regenerated more rapidly and its biomechanical strength was higher than that of the simply sutured tissue.
