제목 Application and degradation of electrospun alginate nanofibers for regenerative medicine
초록 Alginate, a linear unbranched polysaccharide derived from seaweed that contains the repeating units of 1,4-linked β-D-man-nuronic acid and α-L-guluronic acid has shown great potential as a cell scaffold for the regeneration of many tissues, has only been nominally explored as an electrospun biomaterial for such applications due to cytotoxic chemicals that have typically been employed during both nanofiber formation and biopolymer crosslinking. And alginate is not naturally enzymatically degraded in mammals, ionically crossliked alginate hydrogels exhibit a remarkably slow degradation rate, which is typically months to years for their complete removal from injection site. Our laboratory recently developed electrospun cell adhesive peptide modified alginate, polyionic complexed chitosan-alginate, biodegradated alginate, and highly three-dimensional alginate nanofibers using electrospinning process.
