제목 Absorption properties of superabsorbent polymer according to the content of modified silica in the surface-crosslinking process
초록 Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) with a hydrophilic network structure can absorb and conserve huge amounts of water. However, SAP formed by internal-crosslinking are known to have high swelling capacity and low absorption under load (AUL). In this study, surface of the SAP was crosslinked, and modified silica was added to induce surface hydrophobicity, leading to the improvement of AUL. We also increased the crosslinking density and water permeability of SAP. To investigate the absorbency properties of SAP, the centrifuge retention capacity and AUL were measured according to the modified silica content. In addition, FT-IR and SEM analysis were used to confirm the chemical structure and surface characteristics of SAP, respectively.
