In recent, because the petroleum-based polymeric foam packaging presents a major disposal problem, the importance of bio-based and biodegradable materials and related fabrication technologies is rising. The objective of this study is to produce the fully biodegradable foam of PBAT-based biocomposites obtained by the addition of a lignin, aiming developing cost effective and sustainable biodegradable foam that can be used for packaging applications. To obtain the low-cost biocomposites with higher lignin contents, a PBAT was compounded with lignin till 50 wt.-%. Thereafter, lignin-reinforced PBAT biocomposites would be foamed using a traditional chemical foaming agent, azodicarbonamide (ADCA). The chain extender was adopted to improve the foamability of the biocomposites and compatibility between PBAT matrix and lignin particle. Here, we focused on evaluating the effect of the presence of lignin and chain extender on the cell morphology and physical properties. |
