In each step of conventional coprecipitation, various preparation parameters are known to affect the catalytic performance of final catalyst. More specifically, structural and chemical properties of coprecipitated precursors are related with their activities, which is so called “chemical memory effect”. In recent years we have conducted several approaches to tune the structure of Cu,Zn,(Al) coprecipitates in a sophisticated manner. The examples are the change of solution pH in the precipitation step, the role of zirconium ion, the use of organic precipitation agent, and the sequential precipitation, which will be presented on site. Consequently, understanding of coprecipitated structure is pivotal in predicting the activity of final Cu/ZnO-based catalysts. |
