Metal-mediated Morphology Regulation of Self-Assembled Double-hydrophilic Block-Copolymers |

We present a ‘crew-cut’ type micelle-like polymeric nanostructures prepared by the chelation of aquated cisplatin pharmacophore (PtII) to the block-copolymers of poly(ethylene glycol) and poly(acrylic acid). Depending on the PtII-feeding ratio and the length of PAA chains, the resulting morphology of self-assembled structures dramatically changed from spherical micelles to anisotropic perl-necklace and vesicle structures. 1H NMR and FT-IR analyses further exhibited hydrogen-bonding between PtII and the PEG residues plays an important role on the morphology variation. The characteristic colloidal structures related to such nanoparticles will be discussed. |
