제목 Oxidative Crosslinking Pathway and Adhesiveness Correlation of Hyaluronic Acid–Phenol Conjugates.
초록 Hyaluronic acid (HA) is widely used to biomedical applications because the good biocompatibility of HA. However, its poor adhesiveness and fast degradation limit its applications. To overcome their defects, tethering phenol moieties on HA has been developed for robust adhesion and cohesion. However, depending on the crosslinking type, phenolic adhesion and cohesion is interchangeable. Herein, the correlation between phenolic adhesion and cohesion upon gelation of two different HA–phenol conjugates, HA–tyramine and HA–catechol was investigated. As a result, HA–catechol showed stronger adhesion, whereas HA–tyramine showed higher cohesion. Also, covalent crosslinking showed higher adhesion than non–covalent crosslinking. These findings will be one step for designing optimal hyaluronic acid as a biomaterial.
