제목  Process Development of a Large Scale Synthesis of Bio-adipic Acid from D-Galactose
초록 With worldwide caution for the depletion of petroleum resources, research for commodity chemicals derived from biomass has attracted many scientist and industries. Adipic acid is one of the popular chemicals which can be applied to various bio-polyamides such as nylon 66, and possibility for the production of adipic acid from C6 sugar has received many researchers’ expectation. While the key intermediate of the synthesis of adipic acid from nature abundant sugar compounds is trans,trans-muconic acid, which can be obtained from deoxydehydration(DODH) reaction from sugar compounds, it requires either multiple step transformation and/or column chromatography for purification, which is not desirable for large scale preparation. Moreover, low conversion appears as another problem during scale-up of DODH reaction.
In this article, we have developed convenient one-pot process for the synthesis of adipic acid, and the product was successfully produced in 67% overall yield in multi-gram scale.
