In Color Filter (CF) of LCD, the role of dyes and pigments is to express full color by reflecting or absorbing light at specific wavelengths using red, green and blue pigments when white-backlight is passing through. Optical characteristics of pigments used in CF must allow light with wanted wavelength to pass through and filter remaining wavelengths to the best possible extent. Such pigments are thus required to have wanted absorption spectrum and high molar extinction coefficient. We synthesized various bis(dipyrrinato)copper complexes including phenyl, naphthalene, 4-chlorophenyl, 4-fluorophenyl, pentafluorophenyl groups. The changes in optical properties according to substitution group were observed. Synthesized bis(dipyrrinato)copper complex derivatives, Cu(PPN)2, Cu(4-ClPN)2, Cu(1-NaPN)2, Cu(2-NaPN)2, Cu(4-FPN)2, and Cu(PFPPN)2 showed about 468 nm maximum absorption wavelength. These compounds show high molar extinction coefficients as 10,000 ~ 100,000 (L/mol∙cm). |
