Amonst many types of core-shell particle structures, metal oxide–metal oxide core–shell nanoparticles have especially been intensively investigated for various applications such as dielectric ceramics, energy storage materials, and catalytic nanoparticles. Recently, researchers are more focused on the synthesis of the core–shell structure with a multiphase shell layer. The multiphase shell layer plays a critical role in determining the functionality of the core-shell particles. In this study, hydrothermal synthesis of BaTiO3-Ba1-xSrxTiO3 core–shell nanoparticles with a gradient, multiphase shell layer is reported. The gradient core-shell structure was analyzed throughly via scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X- ray spectroscopy, and synchrotron X-ray diffraction. The gradual structure changes and gradient distribution of Sr within a nanoparticle is evident in the analysis results. |
