In this work, epoxy/polyetherimide (PEI) blends were prepared by melt blending. The contents of PEI were varied from 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 wt% and the Effects on mechanical and thermal properties of the blends were studied. The mechanical properties of the blends were measured using universal testing machine (UTM) for fracture toughness was calculated by the critical stress intensity factor (KIC). The morphologies of fracture surface of the blends were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The thermal properties of the blends were investigated by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). These results indicated that PEI plays an important role in improving the mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy blends. |
