In this work, epoxy/polyetherimide (PEI) blends were prepared by melt blending. The contents of PEI were varied from 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 wt% and the Effects on mechanical properties and thermal stability of the blends were studied. The mechanical behaviors of the blends were measured using universal testing machine (UTM) for fracture toughness was calculated by the critical stress intensity factor (KIC) and critical strain energy release (GIC). The morphologies of fracture surface of the blends were observed by high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM). The thermal stability of the blends were investigated by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). These results indicated that PEI plays an important role in improving the mechanical behaviors and thermal stability of epoxy composites. |
