Commonly polymers (or oligomers) with branched structure have superior molecular mobility to those with linear structure. When added in poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) resin, this property is considered to give good plasticizing efficiency. In this study, we synthesized oligoethers with highly branched structure by addition of AB2 type monomer to core materials. From degree of branching calculated by inverse gated (IG) 13C NMR analysis, we confirmed that highly branched oligoethers (HBOE) were successfully synthesized. For estimating the plasticizing performance, PVC films plasticized with HBOE (PVC/HBOE) were prepared by solution blending and compared with di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). From the lowering of glass transition temperature, PVC/HBOE had plasticization efficiency as high as that of PVC/DEHP. In three migration tests, PVC/HBOE had higher migration resistance than PVC/DEHP. Finally, we confirmed that oligoethers with highly branched can be applied to PVC plasticizer. |
