Comparison study based on flow channel geometry and cell structurein Electrostatic Ion Removal system |

Electrostatic Ion Removal(ESIR) has been developed todesalinate since it is suitable to remove ions from the water by applying low voltage. In this work, ESIR was studied to improve ion removal efficiency by designing flow channel. Furthermore, the cell structure varied with parallel or series connection. The influence of flow channel geometry and structure was analyzed by electrochemical methods. A good flow channel geometry and optimum cell structure can favor a uniform current density profile, hence hypothetically extending operation life. They also increased the retention time of the input solution so that non-reducible ions could be removed more even when flow rate is relatively high. |
