제목 Synthesis of Dendritic PEG and Cell Modification for Anti-fouling Effect
초록 Poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) polymers are well known as anti-fouling materials that are non-toxic, water soluble, chemically stable, and resistant to immune response. To improve anti-fouling effect, dendritic PEGs were synthesized. Dendritic PEGs have samller hydrodynamic volumn and spherical shape compared to linear PEG. Dendritic PEGs were synthesized by living anionic ring opening polymerization of ethylene in THF using diphenylmethyl potassium (DPMK) catalyst. To introduce branch point, allylation and dihydroxylation was carried out. All generations were characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy and GPC. Focal point and end groups were functionalized for reaction with cell surface and other molecules, respectively. After modification of dendritic PEGs on cell surface, anti-fouling effect was observed.
