Multi-lamellar microcapsules for encapsulating nanoparticles |

Nanoparticles with high specific surface area always come up with aggregation problem in the composite resulting that their characteristic properties are degraded. We designed a semi-crystalline polyolefin based microcapsule having multi-lamellar structure via self-assembly in semi-dilute solution. Nanoparticles attach on the lamella by specific interactions such as a polar interaction followed by forming multi-lamellar structure. In this way nanoparticles are well-dispersed in the microcapsule. It is noted that a wide range of nanoparticles is able to be being encapsulated in the microcapsule as long as attractive interaction exists. Multi-lamellar structure was checked by TEM, wide- and small-angle X-ray scattering and cross-sectional TEM. Dispersion and stability of the encapsulated nanoparticles were also investigated. |
