제목 Selective Synthesis of Isomers of Dimethylnaphthalene
초록 We have recently reported two-step and efficient synthetic method for 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene (2,6-DMN). Using this methodology, it is possible to get an each of DMN isomers independently without other regioisomers or by-products.
Reaction of 2-bromotoluene and 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol under the ligand-free Heck reaction conditions gave the 3-methyl-4-(o-tolyl)butanal which was a key intermediate in this reaction. Then the aldehyde was subjected to cyclization using the various acidic resin such as Amberlyst® 15 furnish the 1,7-DMN as a single isomers. To add to this, DMN isomers such as 1,5-DMN and 1,6-DMN could be synthesized in the same way.
