A new design of dinuclear half-titanocene complexes with xylene linkage for syndiotactic polystyrene. |
초록 |
Half-titanocene is well-known as an excellent catalyst for the preparation of SPS (syndiotactic polystyrene) when it is activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO). The recent dinuclear half-sandwich complexes of titanium with xylene bridge, [Ti(η5-cyclopentadienylCl2L]2-metha,ortho-[CH2-C6H4-CH2] (L=Cl-metha(1),Cl-ortho (3), L=O-2,6-iPr2C6H3–metha(2),O-2,6-iPr2C6H3–ortho(4)) were successfully synthesized. These catalysts were characterized by 1H and 13C. The synthesis of SPS using these catalysts was observed to be effective in the presence of MAO. The activity of metha- and ortho- catalysts containing xylene bridged was higher than that of the analogous butamethylene and pentamethylene in the same condition. The catalyst (2) exhibited the best activity amongst these catalysts. The catalytic activity with four dinuclear half-titanocenes increased in the order of (3) < (1) < (4)< (2). The optimum condition for polymerization of styrene was achieved using a [Al]/[Ti] ratio of 4000 at 70°C. Temperature and the ratio of [Al]/[Ti] had a significant effect on catalyst activity. The activity of the catalysts increases with an increase in temperature. The polymerizations were conducted at three different temperatures (25, 40 and 70), in which the activity of the catalysts were highest at 70 and lowest at 25. (25°C<40°C< 70°C) with the variation of the [Al]/[Ti] ratio from 2000 to 4000. |
