The diminishing reserves of fossil fuel and global climate changes have become major concerns, and the development of new fuel production pathways based on renewable resources is of critical importance. Selective oxidation reactions of HMF(5-hydroxymethylfurfural) are presently viewed as an attractive route to 2,5-diformlyfuran(DFF), a monomer for furan-containing polymers and fine chemicals. We found that polymer-supported IBX(2-iodoxybenzoic acid) reagent was excellent mediate the direct oxidation of HMF to DFF. |
