Polymer hydrogels usually compose of three-dimensional polymer network structure and contain large amount of water (50-99 %) inside the network structure. Double-network (DN) gels have drawn much attention as an innovative material with excellent mechanical properties. However, preparation of DN hydrogels has many disadvantages. It is time consuming, tedious and requires large amount of unreacted second network monomers. Additionally multi-step methods can make only simple sheet DN gels. To overcome these problems, particle DN (P-DN) gels which use particle gel precursors are suggested. By the P-DN methods, the preparation process can be reduced and it is possible to make complex shape of hydrogels. In this study, we prepared P-DN hydrogels by changing the composition of particle-type first network moiety. The particle size is measured by SEM and optical microscopy. To investigate the compositional effect of first network particle, tensile, compress, and cycle tests are carried out. |
