Release and characterization of double-layered microspheres containing water-soluble drugs |

When administering drug into the body, it reveals the decline of drug effect or toxicity. To overcome these problems, double-layered microspheres(DLM) studied with biodegradable polymers had been investigated. In this study, we manufactured DLM using oil-in-water(O/W) solvent evaporation method to increase the encapsulation ratio of 5-FU and to control the release of 5-FU, and to prevent side-effects with changed concentration of PLGA and 5-FU. The DLM is composed of two components; Core consists of the mixture of dextran and 5-FU and corona consists of PLGA. And the sizes of DLM increased with increasing PLGA content but decreased with increasing 5-FU concentration. In SEM observation, the DLM was spherical shape, smooth surface and transparency. The yield of DLM was 70~80%, and encapsulation ratio was 10~20%. Acknowledgement : This research was supported by Establishment of Nanoscopia Center of Excellence (KMOST) |
