Poly(tetrafluoroethylene)(PTFE) has inherent specific properties such as chemical resistance, good electric property, thermal resistance, non-adherent property, low friction coefficient and dielectric constant. In this study, we fabricated PTFE nanofibrous mat by using electrospinning method for biomedical applications. PTFE beads containing Ag nanoparticles were electrospun with a small quantity of polyoxyethylene as a binder and then treated at high temperature to degrade polyoxyethylene. PTFE nanofibrous mats were characterized by SEM, ATR-FTIR, EDS as a function of time and heat treatment temperature. Antimicrobial activity of PTFE nanofibers was determined. In vivo animal study was carried out to evaluate their performance as a GBR membrane. |
