According to IEC 60296, transformer oils are classified into three groups: uninhibited transformer oil (U type), trace inhibited transformer oil (T type) and inhibited transformer oil (I type), depending on the content of antioxidant additives. The recent increase in demand for U-type transformer oil has led to a decrease in overseas export markets. U type transformer oil is usually produced as naphthenic oil, but the domestic produced base oil is paraffinic oil. In this study, propyldibenzothiophene (PDBT) was synthesized as an alternative additive through the analysis of commercially available U type transformer oil. Synthesized PDBT was analyzed using NMR, GC-MS, LC. It was confirmed that paraffin-based transformer oil containing PDBT can be used as U-type electrical insulating oil. |
