As the environmental problems caused by global warming have been concerned, many efforts are ongoing to develop the clean energy systems. Especially, the restriction of CO2 emission has been recognized as our ultimate goals to overcome the global warming. The CO2 electrolysis system is one of the suitable technologies that can reduce the CO2 concentration and produce the useful fuels. CO production via electrochemical CO2 conversion follows the simple mechanism where two electrons are accompanied and requires the low electrical energy. In this work, we fabricate the Zn-based electrocatalyst for CO production via electrochemical CO2 reduction. First, hexagonal Zn electrocatalyst with predominant (101) facet is prepared by electrodeposition method. Subsequently, energy-free reconstruction of the hexagonal Zn electrocatalyst is conducted in the KHCO3 solution. For further increment of the electrochemical CO2 reduction activity, thermal treatment is conducted. |
