Electrodeposited ternary-transition metal (oxy)hydroxides [M = Mo, Co, Fe] for supercapacitor applications |

Exploring abundant sources are the key strategies for sustainable development in energy storages. Herein, we introduce a binder-free electrodeposition to grow ternary transition metal [Mo, Co, Fe] (oxy)hydroxides (TOHs) nanostructures for supercapacitor applications. Co-based materials have revealed a well-controllable morphology. Iron oxides/hydroxides provide high specific capacitances, and molybdenum shows effective growth with the direct electrodeposition method. In this study, the obtained electrode material with 6.0 : 4.0 : 2.0 metal ratio (Mo:Co:Fe) exhibited a high areal capacitance of 3,354.7 mF cm-2 at 1 mA cm-2 in a three-electrode system with 1 M KOH. The stability has maintained 91% after 3,000 charging-discharging cycles. Hence, this work would contribute to the direct growth of various nanostructures of TOHs for the development of supercapacitors. |
