Suppressingthe vanadium dissolution for high-performance aqueous Zinc ion batteries |

Owing to its high capacity, vanadium-based compoundswith open frameworks have recently been the subject of intensive researchtowards aqueous Zn-ion batteries. Vanadium dissolution froma cathode framework is one of the major challenges that causes significantcapacity degradation. To overcome these challenges, we developed an efficientway to suppress the vanadium dissolution by incorporating Ba2+ inthe vanadium framework. In this work, Ba-V6O13 nanorodswere successfully synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal approach and itsuse as a cathode material for aqueous Zn-ion batteries is investigated. Thepresence of Ba2+ could help in the formation of an artificialinterface during the first cycle to suppress the vanadium dissolution and alsoimprove the diffusion kinetics. As a cathode material, Ba-V6O13 nanorods showed a specific capacity of 307mAh/g at 0.1A/g with capacityretention of 79% after 400cycles at 1A/g. |
