제목 Enhanced Durability of PTFE/EPDM Blends via Electron Beam Irradiation
초록 EPDM has been widely used in the automobile and machinery industries due to its moderate cost, excellent weatherability, and easy processability. However, the use of EPDM is limited due to its poor solvent resistance such as aromatic compound. Because the PTFE has outstanding chemical resistance, we used the PTFE with EPDM. And, electron beam curing of elastomers offers many advantages over a conventional thermal curing, such as a reduced curing time, and the possibility of an ambient temperature curing. The blends of PTFE/EPDM was fabricated by mixing as a function of the PTFE contents such as 30, 50, 70 phr. Electron beam irradiation was carried out from 50 to 300 kGy with 10 MeV. The chemical and physical properties of irradiated PTFE/EPDM blends were characterized using a soxhlet apparatus, dipping tester, durometer type A and UTM, respectively.
