Phosphorene is a new two-dimensional (2D) material which has been attracted in areas such as transistors, capacitors, batteries, and sensors because of its sufficiently high p-type carrier mobility and sizable direct band gap. However, it is an expensive material and a high yield of the few-layer phosphorene nanosheets through a facile method is required for the application of electrorheological (ER) fluids for its commercialization. In this study, the few-layer phosphorene nanosheets are synthesized from red phosphorus (RP), cheap precursor of bulk black phosphorus (BP) by ball-milling process. And the few-layer phosphorene nanosheets are fabricated through sonochemical and NMP-based liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE) of BP under ambient conditions. It leads to the scalable processing, preventing degradation from oxygen and water and obtaining a high yield. Furthermore, the few-layer phosphorene nanosheets are applied for ER fluids and their ER behaviors are investigated thoroughly. |
