A series of waterborne fluorinated polyurethane-acrylate emulsion were prepared from vinyl end-capped polyurethane prepolymer containing ionic moieties (DMPA)/acrylate/perfluoroalkyl acrylate mixture/self-crosslingking agent(vinyltriethoxysilane, VTES)by solvent-/emulsifier-free emulsion copolymerization. The resulting waterborne fluorinated polyurethane-acrylate containing 0, 3, 6 and 9wt% of VTES monomer content were characterized using FTIR spectroscopy, XPS, particle size analyzer, thermogravimeter, dynamic mechanical analyzer, contact angle goniometer and tensile test machine. This study focused on the effect of VTES content on the mechanical properties and surface property(high contact angle/low surface energy: antifouling property)to find the optimum content of VTES for obtaining high performance coating materials.
