Effects of end functional groups on conductivity and morphology of block copolymers |
초록 |
We have performed end-group modification of polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polystyrene-b-polyethylene oxide (PS-b-PEO) block copolymer to incorporate multiple hydroxyl (-OH) or carboxylic acid (-COOH) functional groups using thiol-ene reaction with an aim at investigating the effects of end functional groups on morphology and conductivity of the BCP. It showed the decrease in crystallinity in PEO after the incorporation of functional groups at the chain ends whereas presence of hydroxyl groups at the polymer chain ends resulted in increase in RT conductivity by an order of magnitude. SAXS analysis showed that inclusion of end functional groups at the PS-b-PEO chain ends led to change in morphology, such as lamellar to gyroid and rheology measurement showed the increase in mechanical strength in the modified PS-b-PEO block copolymers. Conductivity measurements showed the improved conductivity for the diol terminated PS-b-PEO block copolymer in the entire temperature range of interest. |
