Enzyme immobilization development for enzymatic fuel cell system |
초록 |
Oxidation and reduction enzymes are used to convert chemical energy into electricity by the means of their activity. Generally, most commonly used enzymes for oxidation and reduction are glucose oxidase, for oxidation of glucose, and laccase, for reduction of oxygen into water. However, due to enzymes exhibiting different stabilities under different type of immobilization techniques, this system requires extensive research in order for the enzymes to be stably bound to the support for efficient enzyme activity. This research analyzed the electrochemical performance and characterization of the EFC system by using glutaraldehyde and EDC/NHS as the immobilization linker. The enzymes were immobilized onto the Graphite Oxide/Cobalt/Chitosan mediator attached gold electrodes through glutaraldehyde cross-linking reaction which links the available amino groups of the enzymes and the mediators and EDC/NHS reaction which links the available carboxylic groups to the amino groups of the enzymes. Power densities, cyclic voltammetry and impedance were also evaluated for analysis. |
