Epoxy materials are widely used in the coating field due to their moisture resistance, scratch resistance, and simple coating process. Recently, There are many studies on epoxy functionalized silicone compounds to improve the high thermal stability and high mechanical properties. Among various silicone compounds, the polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) structure has excellent thermal properties due to its three-dimensional structure. In addition, POSS has excellent compatibility with organic polymer matrix due to the unique structure of RSiO1.5 (R is an organic group or H). In the study, we synthesized three types of POSS using aliphatic epoxy silane and cycloaliphatic epoxy (CE) silane. The high thermal stability of the POSSs was confirmed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). And the mechanical properties were analyzed using by nanoindenter. |
