Di- and triglycerol are profitable compounds for various industrial applications including plasticizer, lubricant, antifoaming agents and fabric softeners. However, the manufacturing di- and triglycerol using base catalysts have been suffered by the low selectivity. To increase the yield and selectivity of di- and triglycerol, proton donors were used as co-catalysts. In order to investigate the role of proton donor in the etherification reaction of glycerol, several reaction conditions such as the amount of proton donor, reaction time and reaction temperature were varied and the composition of products were analyzed using HPLC. |
