Boron and Nitrogen Doped Carbon Nanotubes Assited Organic Photovoltaic Cells |

Organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) are a good candidate for cost effective and solution processable electronic devices. The present device efficiencies of OPVs are still far from the expected value of an ideal device. One of the crucial technological challenges is the retarded charge carrier transport of organic semiconductors. We introduced B- and N-doped carbon nanotubes (CNTs) within P3HT / PCBM blend solutions. B- and N-CNTs can easily transport the charged carriers. Therefore, CNTs provide a good charge pathway to improve the carrier mobility within active layers of OPVs. We also found that B and N substitutional atoms in the CNTs can modify the work function which design the structure of OPVs by modifying the work function. Doped CNTs in active layer increased the carrier transfer rate, which enhanced the short-circuit current density and power conversion efficiency under AM1.5G illumination (100mW cm-2). |
