제목 CO toxicity characteristics of wood specimens by external heat flux variation
초록 This study was conducted to investigate the toxic gas emission characteristics of building interior materials that are the leading cause of fire deaths, especially  focusing on CO. The CO emission was measured by varying the external heat flux with the four types of wood and it was compared to the 50 ppm permissible exposure limit of OSHA.  As a  result of changes that the external heat flux was varied from 25 kW, 35 kW to 50 kW, the maximum COmean (kg/kg) yield was obtained at 25 kW for cedar and red pine, 35 kW for spruce and at 50 kW for lauan. By varying the thickness at 50 kW, COmean (kg/kg) of thicker specimens was reduced 4.5% to 36.6% level. CO (ppm) peak value of a thicker specimen was decreased by 6.3% to 29.7%, except for spruce. The time to CO (ppm) peak was delayed 31.5% up to 210% for all specimens. The CO toxicity of all specimens was observed to increase 1.54 times to 3 times compared with the permissible exposure limit of OSHA.
