To characterize multivariate distributions, 2D liquid chromatography (2D-LC) is a powerful method, which combines two different LC techniques. For example, multivariate distribution can be readily obtained with interaction chromatography(IC)×SEC. In the first dimension TGIC is performed to separate the samples according to chain architecture, functionality, and composition. SEC is then used in the second dimension to separate the fractions according to hydrodynamic volume. Although 2D-LC analysis provides with richer information than a single chromatography analysis, it requires a long analysis time. In this presentation, 2D separations and their applications in various synthetic polymers are discussed. Especially, to reduce the SEC analysis time, we report on implementation of the fast SEC at high temperature for 2D-LC analyses. |
