2D material-based membrane for Li-ion extraction |
초록 |
With explosive demand for Li-ion batteries in electrical vehicles and portable devices, Li has been raised as one of the most important resources for the next generations. However, according to the limited and concentrated reserves of Li minerals, the worldwide chaos for Li securing is about to arrive. Herein, we designed MoS2 flakes on graphene defects (MS-GD) membrane to extract the Li-ion from an aqueous solution. Within the MS-GD, the ionic channel for Li-ion extraction is established by the interlayer gap between MoS2 and graphene and by the inherited defect of graphene. Interestingly, the membrane showed a 4.1 times larger ionic current of Li-ions compared to that of Na-ions, and it exhibited the ionic rectification property depending on the external bias. With the finite element analysis simulation, we concluded that the rectification property of the MS-GD membrane might be associated with the junction of ionic channels. We believe that this work suggests a solution for securing and recycling Li resources for the next energy society. |
