제목 | Performance prediction of a solid oxide electrolysis cell with different electrolytes |
초록 | In this work, a solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) is studied by computational fluid dynamics based on the finite volume method. The SOEC is used for the production of hydrogen from water and/or fossil fuel, and the hydrogen could be used for the electricity generation by fuel cells. In the SOEC, electrolyte type determines the location of products which affects chemical equilibrium and Nernst potential. To investigate the effect of electrolyte on the cell performance, numerical calculations were performed with two different electrolytes, considering chemical and electrochemical reactions. The predicted results show that the electrolytes have an influence on current distribution, and this provides design consideration for SOEC components.
