Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are a fascinating material because of their controllable biointerfacial properties, low cytotoxicity, and high X-ray absorption. In this study, we developed thrombin activating CT/NIRF imaging probe which can detect thrombosis. AuNPs were coated with silica for biocompatibility and surface modification. For its high X-ray absorption AuNP can be used as CT contrast agent and NIRF dye for fluorescent imaging. AuNPs have advantages as compared with other nanoparticles because having broad absorption spectrum which induces fluorescence quenching of the dye. At normal state nanoparticle conjugated NIRF dye is quenched because of the nanoparticle surface energy transfer (NSET).However near thrombosis protease reaction by thrombin dequenches NIRF dye which makes detecting thrombosis possible. The feasibility of biocompatible AuNPs as CT/NIRF dual imaging probe was showed promising results for detecting thrombosis. |
