제목 | Process simulation and opimisation of a methanol production process via captured CO2 conversion |
초록 | Methanol canbe used as a feedstock to produce a variety of chemicals and serve as analternative fuel itself. Since methanol synthesis through Carbon Capture andUtilization (CCU) makes use of the captured CO2, greenhouse gasemissions could potentially be reduced. CO2 conversion to methanolis one of the widely considered conversion targets among CCU technologies. Thisstudy aims to develop a process model for the catalytic reaction andpurification and analyse the impact of process design and operating conditions onprocess performance. The process simulation platform, gPROMS is used; thereactor model is implemented in an inhouse code and created as a custom unit sothat the reactor can be integrated with other process units. It can predictspatial variations of species concentrations, flowrates, and pressure. The integratedflowsheet is utilized to identify an optimal process configuration and operatingstrategy by changing process design and modifying the purge streams. |
