Control of pH neutralization processes has been widely used in chemical, biochemical industry and environmental protection. These processes are difficult to control because of their inherent non-linearity, high sensitivity at or near the neutralization point, and time-varying gains when uncertainties in flows and concentrations of neutralization agents are present. Thus pH neutralization process is considered as a benchmark for testing non-linear controllers. In this study, the pH neutralization process was controlled by using the Gain Scheduling method, which linearly approximates the nonlinear process of pH neutralization by dividing it into the range of similar properties. The simulation results for the control of pH neutralization process show that Gain Scheduling method can make better performance to control nonlinear process than general PID controller. The further study will focus on the extension of present work to pH neutralization of nonlinear systems. |
